*~* Paul’s Point Of View *~*
As I drove back to the house I shared with my band mates (Joel, Benji, Billy, and Chris) my thoughts were dominated by Lacey. “She’s gorgeous.” I thought. About five feet, seven inches tall. Long, wavy blonde hair. And her eyes…a crystal blue that seem to tell you everything about her if you bothered to look hard enough. Those curve hugging jeans and the plain, low-cut white tee she wore made her look like heaven.
“But she has a kid!” I said out loud. “She can’t be a day older than eighteen!” I was so immersed in my thoughts, I didn’t even notice that I had been sitting in the car, in the drive way for about three whole minutes. Joel and Benji had their faces pressed up against the car windows, making faces at me. I jumped about a mile when I finally noticed on me. I got out of the car and they were rolling around on the ground, laughing.
“Oh, shut up you two.” I said, slightly annoyed, slightly amused. Still shaking with laughter, they got up off the ground.
“Whose the girl, Paul?” Joel asked.
“Wha…what? What are you talking about?” I asked, taken aback.
“Oh, come on Paul. You only ever do that after you meet a hot chick.” Benji said.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” I said defiantly and walked into the house. Benji and Joel followed. I knew they weren’t going to let me get away with me not telling them about Lacey.
Billy and Chris both waved as I entered the house. I waved back and walk straight to the fridge.
“Paul met a girl.” Benji said to Billy and Chris immediately.
“Oooooh. Really? What’s her name?” Billy asked.
“Jesus. I just helped a girl carry her groceries to her car because she had a baby. No big deal.” I said, trying to end the ordeal quickly.
“A girl? With a baby?” Chris said.
“Yes. Her name was Lacey.” I answered.
“How old was she?” Billy asked.
“Lacey? I didn’t ask. She looked pretty young though. About 18.” I said, not looking at any of them.
“Ok Paul. Band meeting. Pronto.” Joel demanded. The four of them were already sitting in the living room, waiting for me. I walked over and sat on the couch, awaiting their disapproval.
“Tell us you didn’t get her number.” Chris said.
“I didn’t”. I lied.
“Ok, good. Because it’s probably not a good idea for you to be involved with an eighteen year old with a kid, ok?” Joel said.
“Yeah, I know.” I said, hoping they didn’t see the lie in my eyes.
“I have an idea! To get your mind off this girl!” Benji said. I already knew what his idea was.
“No, Benji.” I said automatically.
“Let’s go to Platinum’s!” Benji said. Platinum’s was the neighborhood strip club.
“Benji, no. I’m not going.”
Later that even, the five of us were piled in the car, with Benji driving, all the way to Platinum’s.
